Second Tuesday

On the second Tuesday of the months when Congress is in session, the Office of Public Witness presents an open briefing on current issues as they relate to topics addressed by past General Assemblies of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). After the briefing, attendees are encouraged to meet with their members of Congress to advocate positions of compassion, justice and peace inspired by the Bible and promoted by the Church.

The Washington Office staff includes specialists on a range of public policy issues. If you come for a Second Tuesday briefing, these staff members will make sure that you are comfortable with the substance and terminology of your chosen issues, and with technical aspects of the legislative process, before you visit your Congressperson. After you return home, the office can help you track your issue and learn the outcome of your efforts.

Please consider joining us at 100 Maryland Avenue NE. Call (202) 543-1126 for more information.

We ask that you check the Federal Government Operating Status in the Washington area during times of inclement weather or emergency. The Washington Office follows the Federal Government guidelines and may close on such occasions. If the Federal Government is closed, we may also be closed.
