Key leadership resources for women

Many resources and training opportunities address issues of special concern to women and prepare women for leadership in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Here is a sampling of what is available:

Special events at the 220th General Assembly (2012), Pittsburgh, Pa.

Attend special events at the 220th General Assembly. The Women’s Orientation Breakfast, June 30, providing an orientation to the General Assembly as well as information on issues relevant to women. Women of Faith Award Ceremony Breakfast, July 1, honoring Judith Henry, Rosemary Rice McMahan and Ann Rhee Menzie for their work in transforming communities. Purchase tickets to these events.

Get bilingual study guides, videos and related resources, including questions for conversation and suggested actions for response by congregations and individuals. Learn more.

Young Women’s Leadership Development

Find resources especially for women 18–35 who are considering leadership opportunities in the church. For more information, visit the website or send an email.

Sisters Stand and Walk Together

This program is organized by Presbyterian Women through its synod groups to develop the skills and leadership potential of racial ethnic and immigrant women. Find out more, send an email.

Leadership Development Grant Program

This program provides grants for women to attend training events to develop and strengthen their leadership skills, for PC(USA) organizations planning leadership events and for other projects that empower women and reflect the diversity of the church. Learn more.

Diversity in Leadership Network

A collaborative effort among the six agencies of the PC(USA) to assist the whole church in becoming a diverse and multicultural community of faith and employment by identifying individuals for key leadership opportunities. The network provides a variety of resources on issues of diversity and inclusion within the church, information about cultural proficiency, and resources on identification, recruitment and retention of leaders. Presbyterians with demonstrated leadership qualities are invited to complete a form to become part of the leadership database. Referrals of qualified candidates are also encouraged.
