Stewardship

Dave Crittenden, Director

David Crittenden

Greetings colleagues in mission and ministry:

We are called to be good caretakers of the world God has entrusted to us, and to seek to do for others as Jesus would do. The Stewardship Ministry area seeks to help Presbyterians develop faithful stewardship practices that flow from attitudes of abundance and generosity by providing educational resources and services.

Stewardship – Not That Time of Year Again!!

Stewardship is not just an annual campaign, it is not a once-a-year activity,
it’s a way of life – life in God. Learn how one congregation is looking at Stewardship differently.

Funding Christ's Mission

Funding Christ’s Mission gives direction to the work of the General Assembly Mission Council as we seek to be financially faithful in the 21st Century. It is the report of the Mission Funding Task Force to approved by the 218th General Assembly in 2008.

  • Byron I appologize for not responding to your concerns much earlier. I hope the Giving Magazine was helpful in providing a theme and related materials for your stewardship program. I beleive we have added several things to our website since your post which are intended to be helpful and I hope are responsive to your concerns. I encourage you to download the Stewardship Manual, found on the Stewardship Education page for a guide to year round stewardship and a review of the types of annual campaigns. There is also a stewardship bibliography with books and websites centered on stewardship in general and faith and money in particular. We have a monthy electronic newsletter now, Stewardship Ministry, which is a place to share resources and best practices. I encourage you and your wife's team to sign up. Finally, please let us know what we are missing and what would be helpful to you and your congregation. by David Crittenden on 12/09/2011 at 11:02 a.m.

  • Could the PCUSA.org donation function be expanded to support congregations? Instead of adding a PayPal account to our congregation's webpage, could PCUSA.org provide provide that function using our pin number? by Robert Shaw on 12/02/2011 at 2:56 p.m.

  • Our church wants to accept donations online, but to do so, it will cost 5% of each donation which goes to the vendor providing that service. Since PCUSA accepts online donations directly, it would be great if it could offer a service where each congregation could have a link on its website for donations which would be processed through PCUSA and returned to us -- without having to pay the 5% fee. Is this something other churches would be interested in? by Robin M on 11/11/2011 at 1:11 p.m.

  • Dear Brother Byron, I, too, have been disappointed in past years with the PCUSA stewardship materials for use by local congregations. However, recently our denomination seems to be partnering with others at the Ecumenical Stewardship Center. You will see the link in the "Giving" magazine, I'm sure. For others who may be reading this message, the link is as follows: http://www.stewardshipresources.org/. They have nicely produced materials and ship quickly. by Lant Davis on 10/12/2011 at 1:57 p.m.

  • Does the PC(USA) have any tools or software available to help churches establish a method of on-line pledging during stewardship campaigns? by Karen Thompson on 09/11/2011 at 11:10 p.m.
