Letter from the Chair of the Gathering Planning Team

Dear Friends,

It is with grace-filled joy that I invite you to join in celebrating the next Gathering of women across the church in Orlando Florida, July 18–22, 2012. A team of energetic and spirit-filled women have planned a meaningful event that will have a global impact. Based on Psalm 46:4–5, this conference will enrich your soul and connect you with other women of faith. Mission ideas, informative workshops and service opportunities will abound. This Gathering truly offers someone for everyone!

Themed “River of Hope,” the event will be staged in Orlando’s Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. Under this one roof, you’ll find restaurants, shops and the abundant meeting and sleeping rooms PW needs for a wonderful event! The atrium has an outdoor feel with beautiful plant life, yet stays at a comfortable 74-degree constant temperature. Beyond the convenience of the Gaylord Palms, you can take advantage of Orlando as a family destination with a beautiful landscape and many fun activities. And, PW’s special convention room rate at the hotel will apply three days before and after the Gathering to allow you to extend your stay. Shuttles and taxis are widely available (some free, some cost) to help you explore local attractions.

We’ve listened to your feedback and, for the 2012 Gathering, you’ll have more options and flexibility! The workshops and plenary sessions will speak to a wide variety of interests. Interactive areas will offer ways to enrich your faith, expand your worldview and recharge you. The Business Meeting will give you a chance to learn about PW’s plans for the 2012–2015 triennium. Sunday morning worship will close the Gathering, uniting us in faith and hope for our future.

Full registration includes five meals—some lunches and dinners during the Wednesday-evening-to-Sunday-morning event. When meals aren’t provided, you’ll have time to meet with your synod, share a quick meal or formal dinner with a friend, and even have free time! Yes, Friday evening (beginning at 4 pm) will be free time—shop, visit local attractions, nap, dine at a local restaurant or enjoy the interactive area. Breakfasts will be your choice; shop at the grocery store (less than a mile away) and keep items in the refrigerator in your hotel room or visit the full buffet breakfast in an on-site eatery.

Join your sisters in Christ (and some children and men!) from around the world to take part in this extravaganza designed to delight your heart. Hope is the focus, nurturing your spirituality is the reason.  We are blessed to be able to explore the many ways we can be of service to God.

With great joy,

Kathy Randall
