The youth of Madison Presbyterian Church, Madison, NC is small in number but huge in love for Christ and neighbor.
After the disasters in Haiti and Chile, they asked for ways that they could help. They successfully lead our congregation in participating in a local ecumenical relief effort for Haiti but wanted to do more.
Because I had experience working with PDA mission efforts, I checked your web site and saw suggestions for making Gift of the Heart Kits. We decided to do hygiene kits and spent a month letting the congregation know about the project.
Using money from their budget along with donations from the congregation, the four Madison youth, three friends and two adult leaders spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon shopping and packing the kits. The youth completely threw themselves into the project with joy. By the end of the afternoon, the Madison young people had created 100 hygiene packs, which we shipped to Church World Service.
Through this mission, the youth lead the adults of our congregation in discipleship. We can't wait to do another project!
