International volunteers in Haiti

Two Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) mission co-workers, Carline and Ken White, have been assigned in Haiti to help define and incorporate the use of volunteers in the recovery work from Haiti’s January 2010 earthquake.  They will be ready to begin receiving and coordinating mission groups in March 2012. Coordination is necessary due to the lack of resources and the need to ensure there is no duplication of work and that mission groups are not taking on work that could provide income to families in Haiti.

The Whites will assist mission teams from the United States with placement, orientation and logistics. Ken outlines the four areas of service in which groups may serve alongside Haitian partners: building permanent housing, community/mental health, food security (agriculture), and rebuilding schools in several areas, including Léogâne.

Please check the PC(USA) Haiti website  to stay informed of recovery activities.  Please indicate your interest, skills and experience by completing the online form.
