Hi there! My name is Sarah Akin.  I am from Little Rock, AR, went to Rhodes College in Memphis, and am now headed to Nashville for my YAV year.  In Nashville, I will be working at a nonprofit called "Nations Ministry". Nations Ministry strives to help refugee families become self-sufficient in American society.  They do a lot of cool things that serve the needs of these families from all over the world. Two of the many programs they have are: a preschool program that prepares children for kindergarten, and an after-school tutoring program to provide academic support to refugee youth.  It is with these two programs that I will be primarily working.  I am very excited about this year and I am thankful for all the support the church has given me and I am grateful that the church has taught me to be a servant leader.

The Young Adult Volunteer program is a year-long service program for young adults between ages 19 and 30. Read more about the YAV program here
