Kaley Anderson
YAV in Peru
Joining Hands Peru/ Red Uniendo Manos Peru
Kaley grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi, and received her Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in art from the University of Mississippi. Since graduating, she has spent three summers as a staff member of Montreat Conference Center, most recently as the Assistant Director for Clubs and Recreation. Kaley was a YAV in 2009-2010 in San Antonio, where she worked with the non-profit law organization RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services). There she assisted refugees from Bhutan, Burman, Iraq, and Iran in completing requirements for their permanent residency status. She will spend 2011-2012 as a YAV in Lima, Peru, where she will be working with the Red Uniendo Manos and Comercio Justo. Her decision to embark on a second YAV placement is in line with her passion for promoting global citizenship, which she hopes to continue after her time in Peru.
The Young Adult Volunteer program is a year-long service program for young adults between ages 19 and 30. Read more about the YAV program here
