Support strong local food economies in Haiti
The migration of thousands of people from the earthquake-devastated areas around and in Port-au-Prince to rural areas of Haiti is threatening the security and sovereignty of rural food systems. The Joining Hands network FONDAMA is prioritizing the urgent need for an increase in rural food production. With the financial help of PHP and PDA, FONDAMA has been successfully purchasing seeds locally and distributing them to Haitian farmers. The growing season is well under way and as it progresses there is an increasing need for a system of grain banks to be put in place to protect future growing seasons and ensure sustainability. In the near future, there could be other needs for tools, irrigation systems, trainings, etc. Your ongoing support is crucial and greatly appreciated.
