Women In Development

In the Dominican Republic, women and their children live in extreme poverty often time without a roof over their heads, food on their table or access to education. This project will benefit women who are working together in projects they own and control to address poverty, hunger and justice issues in their communities. These projects will positively affect the women, their families and communities.

Poverty In America

The current economic crisis has heightened Americans awareness of poverty in the United States. In 2007 37.3 million Americans lived below the official poverty threshold (US Census). With the economic crisis of 2008 and 2009 this number will increase substantially. Funds to this ECO will enable SDOP to engage in partnership with communities of economically poor people working to improve their lives, the lives of their families, and their community.

Long Term Self Development For Areas Affected by Hurricanes Katrina & Rita

It will take communities impacted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita years to recover from these devastating storms. For poor communities the recovery will take even longer. Self-Development of People is a ministry of justice, dignity, and empowerment for economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged communities. Partnerships established will assist the people in economically poor communities as they struggle to recover.
