Celebrate Earth Day Sunday
Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year, and Presbyterian churches are urged to celebrate Earth Day Sunday near this date.
The National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program produces Earth Day Sunday resources each year. The theme for 2011 was “Where Two or More are Gathered: Eco-Justice as Community.” Download the resource, which explores the importance of community and shares information on how churches can work in community for eco-justice in the areas of food, water and air. Materials include sermon starters, a bulletin insert and ideas for church action.
Please email me, Katie Holmes, to share your how your church celebrated Earth Day Sunday in 2011. Read about Presbyterian Churches’ Earth Day Sunday events from 2010 and 2011.
